autumn leaves border with the saying hello autumn

Dear Acadia Parish Family,

Welcome to October! As the autumn leaves begin to change, our school community is bustling with activity and achievement. This month is packed with opportunities to celebrate the incredible people who make our district look, feel, and run its best. From honoring the hard work of our custodians and coaches to celebrating National School Lunch Week, we have so much to be proud of. We are also wrapping up our first grading period of the year, marking a major milestone for our students' academic progress. Thank you for your continued partnership as we move into this beautiful new season together! Let's continue to 'Strive for 95' in our attendance and have a fun, festive Rice Festival.

Kids Day on Main Street

The 9th Annual Kids Day on Main Street took place on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Historic Downtown Crowley, LA. The Acadia Stem Bus made a special appearance bringing hands on STEM activities, free children's books and a great deal of fun. There were activities on the bus as well positioned on the mats outside. Lots of parents and children were treated to a tour of the bus that highlighted its special constellation lighting and an interactive whiteboard.  Be on the look out for the Big Blue Crawfish rolling down a street near you.

Louisiana Lift Initiative --ZEARN

APSB students have been working hard to fulfill the challenges that schools have launched as part of the 'Louisiana Lift Initiative.' The Louisiana Lift Initiative is a state-sponsored partnership between the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) and Zearn designed to accelerate math learning for K-8 students across the state. The program provides school systems with dedicated leadership coaching, data-sharing implementation frameworks, and specialized professional development to maximize the impact of Zearn Math.

How to help your child?  Create a Supportive Home Environment
  • Grab Scratch Paper: Zearn is digital, but math is tactile. Always provide a pencil and a blank piece of paper or a dry-erase board. Your child will need to draw models or solve equations on paper before typing their answers.
  • Track the "Badges": Every time your child completes a full lesson, they earn a digital badge on their dashboard. You can ask them about it and let them tell you when they earn that badge.

2026 International Rice Festival Approaches

Excitement is reaching a fever pitch across Crowley as one of Louisiana’s oldest and most beloved traditions, the 89th International Rice Festival, prepares to take over downtown from October 15–18, 2026. Local students are particularly thrilled, counting down the days until the streets fill with carnival rides, live music, and the unmistakable aroma of Cajun cuisine.
To ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience this rich cultural milestone, the Acadia Parish School Board has scheduled an official school holiday on Friday, October 16, 2026. School system leaders are actively encouraging families to get out, support our local agricultural heritage, and take in the festivities, noting that the historic event offers a welcoming environment where there is truly something for everyone.

Good Luck to all the school royalty vying to be named the "Prince and Princess."
