The Acadia Parish School Board is accepting applications for membership on the newly created Special Education Advisory Council.

This council will meet three (3) times per year to provide advice and recommendations regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources. The council will also engage in outreach activities to the community at large to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration with respect to special education.

Members are being sought from the following stakeholder groups:

  • (3) Parents or legal guardians of students with an exceptionality, other than gifted and talented, who are enrolled in an Acadia Parish School under the jurisdiction of or who are receiving special education services from the School Board, none of whom shall be employees APSB
  • (1) High School Students with a disability
  • (1) Person who represents an entity that serves students with disabilities or families of students with disabilities and who is not an employee of the School Board

Members will be appointed by Scott Richard Superintendent, and serve a two (2) year term.

All applications must be returned in an envelope marked with Special Education Advisory Council - ATTENTION: Supt. Richard. The applications can be mailed to: P.O. Drawer 309, Crowley, LA 70527-0309 or dropped off at the front desk of the Acadia Parish School Board Office between the hours of 8:00-4:30 p.m.
