Notice of Operation of Audio/Video Recording Equipment
The Acadia Parish School Board has installed, and will begin operation of, audio/video recording equipment on or before February 1, 2026, in self-contained classrooms and other special education settings, as permitted under La. R.S. 17:1948. In accordance with state law, the Board is required to provide written notice to all staff assigned to the affected classrooms, as well as to the parents/guardians of students regularly attending these classrooms.
As required by law, this letter serves as formal notice that audio/video recording equipment has been installed and will be in operation as follows:
Anticipated Date of Camera Activation: February 1, 2026
School Names: Armstrong Middle, Branch Elementary, Church Point High, Church Point Middle, Crowley High, Crowley Middle, Iota Elementary, Iota High, Martin Petitjean Elementary, Midland High, Richard Elementary, Ross Elementary, South Crowley Elementary, North Crowley Elementary and South Rayne Elementary.
Classroom(s): Self-Contained and Combo classrooms meeting requirements under La. R.S. 17:1948.
The sole purpose of audio/video recording, as authorized by La. R.S. 17:1948, is to promote the safety of students receiving special education services. The recordings may not be used for any other purpose. Regular or continual monitoring of these recordings is prohibited by law.
The Acadia Parish School Board will maintain all footage from these recordings for a minimum of one (1) month, as required.
