Acadia Parish would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of all of our faculty, staff, students, and families during the 2022-2023 school year, as evidenced by the Spring 2023 LEAP scores.
As mentioned in The Advocate, Acadia Parish is thrilled to announce that two of our schools were listed as one of the Top 10 performing Acadiana area schools! To have a spot on this list, schools from across the Acadiana area were ranked by the percentage of their students achieving the top two highest levels on the LEAP test, which are Mastery and Advanced. Out of all of the schools in the Acadiana area, Egan elementary had the 5th highest number of students(64%) scoring Mastery or above on the LEAP test! Evangeline elementary had the 10th highest number of students (60%) scoring Mastery or above on the LEAP test in the Acadiana area! What an achievement!
We are also very pleased to announce that students across Acadia Parish showed growth across every subject area in Grades 3-8, when comparing 2022 scores to 2023 scores! Our high school students also showed growth in English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, and Biology!
Six of our Acadia schools showed at least 5 points growth in Mastery and Advanced from their 2022 scores. They are Estherwood Elementary (7%), Church Point High (6%), Iota Middle School (6%), Morse Elementary (5%), Ross Elementary (5%), and South Rayne Elementary (5%).
Lastly, congratulations to our own Top 5 performing schools in Acadia Parish, according to the schools' percentage of students earning Mastery or above:
1. Egan Elementary - 64%
2. Evangeline Elementary - 60%
3. Estherwood Elementary & Mermentau Elementary - 54%
4. Iota Elementary & Iota Middle - 48%
5. Mire Elementary - 47%
Our schools’ faculty, staff, and students are currently learning and working diligently in their classrooms, as they start the new school year. We believe that with the continued support from our families and the community, our students will achieve even greater things this upcoming year!
