SEAC

What is a SEAC?

SEAC (pronounced “seek”) is an acronym for Special Education Advisory Council, which is the group that provides input on special education issues to our school district. Its purpose is to advise and advocate, not to decide policy.

The Acadia Parish School Board is accepting applications for membership on the newly created Special Education Advisory Council.

This council will meet three (3) times per year to provide advice and recommendations regarding special education policies, procedures, and resources. The council will also engage in outreach activities to the community at large to increase the level of knowledge, support, and collaboration with respect to special education.

Members are being sought from the following stakeholder groups:

  • (1) Parents or legal guardians of students with an exceptionality, other than gifted and talented, who are enrolled in an Acadia Parish School under the jurisdiction of or who are receiving special education services from the School Board, none of whom shall be employees APSB

  • (1) Special Education Teacher

Members will be appointed by Superintendent Scott Richard, and serve a two (2) year term.

All applications must be returned in an envelope marked with Special Education Advisory Council - ATTENTION: Superintendent Scott Richard. The applications can be mailed to: P.O.
