Curriculum:
- All courses will be offered virtually through Edgenuity with face to face attendance.
- Certified teaching staff will be assigned to each student.
- Each high school will have staff members assigned to classes of students.
- Once a student is successfully registered, a one-time prescriptive test in the course is required to be completed by the student. This one-time, in-person prescriptive test will guide the remaining coursework the student will need to complete to be successful in removing the deficiency in the Carnegie Unit subject.
Attendance:
- Students should make satisfactory progress throughout the course; āin-personā attendance is required for summer school.
- Students should expect to work 4 hours per day in the online portal. Once the initial, in-person prescriptive exam is successfully completed, students may begin working on their assigned course virtually. The prescriptive testing day will be documented as the studentās official start date. NOTE: Students not able to complete the initial, in-person prescriptive testing before June 7th will not be eligible for the summer credit recovery program.
- Only a student officially enrolled in the online course can complete coursework. All instances of academic dishonesty will be investigated. Any instance of academic dishonesty will result in immediate removal from the program.
- Students are responsible for maintaining reliable, daily access to the internet. Computer/internet problems will not be accepted as reasons for delays in missing deadlines.
Dress Code:
- School uniforms are expected any time students are on campus.
Performance Goals:
- Course progress and academic performance will be evaluated weekly by an assigned Virtual Learning Facilitator on June 9th, 16th & 23rd.
- If a student is not on target and/or not passing, the facilitator will issue a warning and set a goal with a completion date. Students who do not meet their course progress goal will be released from the program. Released students must repeat the course at their home school in the fall. Grading is based on the APSB grading scale.
Devices:
- Students are able to work on the course material from any computer/device with internet access.
Communication:
- Communication with parents and students is essential.
- Our primary methods of contacting parents regarding student progress, concerns, observations and important events is through email and/or Remind. A valid parent email address and a valid phone number is required for enrollment.
- Parents agree to regularly check their email (at least twice weekly) so they are aware of any communication regarding their child.
- Facilitators will contact students only through the Edgenuity Email messaging system. Students should check their email once logged into Edgenuity daily. If they have questions/concerns they may send them through email in Edgenuity to their facilitator(s).
Earning Credit:
- Students must successfully complete their online courses by the course completion date. A course is only considered complete when the course indicates a 100% student progress rate and all assignments, projects, and essays have been completed, submitted, and graded by a teacher. A passing grade in alignment with the APSB grading scale is required to receive credit for the course. Final grades are only considered valid when an official grade report is issued by APSB Virtual School. Any virtual course taken for high school credit will be entered onto the official student transcript and calculated in Grade Point Averages, etc.
Course Offerings:
- Students are eligible to enroll in courses not successfully completed in the 2022-2023 school year only.
- Students who need multiple courses will be assigned 1 primary course. If the student completes the course work early and there is a reasonable amount of time remaining, they may apply for another course. Therefore, students can enroll in a maximum of 1 course at a time.
